Cars and Coffee at the Oasis Austin Texas

Cars and coffee is known around the U.S. It  is a universal car meetup that brings drivers and auto enthusiasts together.

Today I attended my first one in Austin Texas. I showed up in my 2007 Aston Martin V8 Vantage prepared to see maybe a dozen or two cars with people mingling around.

I was so wrong! I showed up relatively early and already there were over 60 cars. I timidly parked in the secondary parking lot. I was a little confused as what to do next.

I got out of my car and felt painfully out of place between two Chevy Cameros. An older gentleman quickly approached me and, without warning, I was in a ten minute discussion about 1980 supra’s.

Nothing against supra’s but I was quickly losing interest and parted ways with the older man. I ventured to the main parking lot and was delightfully met with two Ferraris and a Purple Porsche. That is when the fun started.

It didn’t take me long and I found the sole Lamborghini parked in what appeared to be a shadow because the paint was such a deep black. Not far from the Lamborghini, a rare sight for me appeared – a childhood dream car perched on the asphalt. A silver Ford Gt with white racing stripes was crouched on the pavement. I almost stopped and said the pledge of allegiance right there. What I found next is what really captured my morning and turned it into an event.

I came upon a line of British cars, peering down on everyone else in their pretentious glory. I hastily put myself in the middle of the group and started talking to the owners. When I mentioned my Aston was parked in the other parking lot, a shocked look flooded over their faces as if they had just witnessed some incredible tragedy.

Being the British car owners they were, the group sprung into action and cleared me a spot amongst the elite. I was petitioned to retrieve my work of art and cross the draw bridge into the Kings castle.

Once I was parked amongst my own kind, the rest of the day was spent discussing the finer things in life such as cars, real estate, race tracks, exclusive events, and so on. They were so quick to take me in and make me one of their own. I felt lucky at first, but I soon transformed that feeling into a sense of entitlement. The assimilation was complete.

The cars, the people, and the experience far surpassed my expectations. I am so happy I took my Cannon Rebel t4i and attempted to get some good shots and video. My amature hands only captured a fraction of the event but I hope you enjoy. Check out the video link below.
